Our Philosophy on Early Years Education
At KCL, we believe early education should prioritize children’s developmental needs over performance. Traditional models focus heavily on cognitive, left-brain growth, but nature starts with the right brain—nurturing social-emotional development.
Through play, spontaneity, and interaction, children learn to collaborate, communicate, resolve conflicts, and make independent choices. These foundational experiences cultivate curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning.
Curious children are unstoppable learners—that’s how nature designed them, and that’s the foundation of our approach.
Higher Order Thinking
Our Higher Order Thinking program is designed to nurture their natural curiosity and ability to explore, question, and discover.
Through hands-on projects and guided exploration, children learn to:
- Investigate the world around them
- Build knowledge through research and experimentation, and
- Develop their own understanding by drawing meaningful conclusions.
We believe young minds are capable of incredible things when given the opportunity to think deeply, explore freely, and engage with their environment in a purposeful way. Inquiry-based learning empowers our preschoolers to become confident, creative, and curious learners from the start.
Social Emotional Learning
At KCL, we see Social Emotional Learning (SEL) not as a subject or a curriculum, but as the foundation of how humans exist, connect, and interact. It’s a natural, essential part of life—woven into everything we do, guiding our relationships, decisions, and personal growth.
Our approach is rooted in keeping things real and grounded at a basic human level. We don’t rely on rigid structures or artificial frameworks. Instead, we focus on fostering genuine human experiences, where children learn to:
- Understand and express their emotions authentically.
- Build meaningful and respectful connections.
- Solve problems and navigate challenges with empathy and self-awareness.
How we integrate SEL
Rather than isolating SEL as a separate activity, it permeates every aspect of our day—through conversations, collaborative play, creative expression, and reflective moments. By embedding SEL into daily interactions, we ensure that children develop emotional intelligence in a way that feels natural and relevant to their lives.
At KCL, we believe that by focusing on what it truly means to be human; staying authentic, empathetic, and balanced, we create a nurturing environment where children thrive not only in school but in life.
